Classes: I offer a number of classes and
can design a class to suit your needs. Here is a sample of the
classes I offer:
Free-Style Quilting - Intermediate:
4 Hours
Learn to free-motion quilt the easy
way. By the end of class you should be able to stipple,
create stars, loops bubbles, flowers, and write your name
with your home sewing machine.
Free-Style Quilting - Advanced:
4 Hours
Free-motion quilting that goes beyond
the basics. Pattern-fill, feathers, following a drawn line,
embroidery, couching, and bobbin-drawing.
Photo Quilts: 4 Hours
Learn to use Photoshop Elements® to
enhance and print your favorite photographs onto fabric.
Computer with Photoshop Elements® installed helpful but not
required.
Angelina Fibers: 3 Hours
Learn to work with wonderful, exciting
Angelina fibers. These glitzy fibers are versatile and have
many uses and are versatile for surface design.
Color on Fabric: 4 to 6 Hours
All the different ways to get color on
fabric - paints, inks, markers & pencils, paintstiks, and
stamping. Many methods and ways to transfer color to the
surface of fabric, except for dyeing.
Puttin' on the Glitz: 3 Hours
While it's true that all that glitters
is not gold, it's also true that creating a shiny surface on
your fabric is almost as good, and twice as much fun. Work
with all things shiny, glittery, and fun!
Cut-Away Quilts: 4 Hours
A simple, fused appliqué technique with
eye-catching results. Practice free-form cutting, then
working from a pattern provided by the instructor, then
creating your own unique designs.
Figment to Fabric: 1 Day/2
Days
You know that quilt you have in your
head that you can't quite get on paper and into fabric? This
class will take you from that figment of your imagination to
a paper design and then on to fabric. The 1-day class is
design only. The 2-day class includes construction decisions
and technical helps.
Surface Design Series: 1 Hour
per method (usually done as a series on a regular date
like monthly)
Many different surface design
techniques including Angelina fibers, trapping, fabric
beads, fabric manipulation, silk painting, burnt silk
appliqué, foils, paintstiks, stamping, stenciling, inks,
photo transfers, and many more.
Tie-Dye T-Shirts: School
groups and scouts (time varies)
I'll work with your group to create a
fun and memorable tie-dyeing experience for your group. Warm
weather activity for camp experiences, end-of-school-year
parties or events, scouting badges (sewing can be worked
into this), or just fun get-togethers.
